MICHAEL MARROTTI

 MICHAEL MARROTTI

"PATHWAY TO BANALITY"

The cycle of life
keeps spinning
in the same direction
Redundancy
reigns supreme
in the society
I exist in

On the prowl
wearing
reading glasses
It's the same
old key
Opening
that ordinary door
Coming up short
These filthy fingers
are empty handed
All my hero's
are dead gone
Ashes to ashes
Covered in dust

No matter
where I turn
Can't find
entertainment
Fractured fingers
strumming
the same three chords
Cliche poetry
Bukowski is laughing
Movie scripts
written by those
who have no
imagination

Making a call
to my dealer
In the name
of the struggle
Normalcy is
detrimental
I snort
the solution
It's a mundane
existence
One day at time

Striving for more
in an intellectually
bankrupt world
It's the drought
of creative talent
Emulation only works
in socialist countries
Punk rock is dead
Banality happens

"PLEASE, BYPASS THIS POEM"

My hopes
for admiration
by a general public
inflicted with
common thoughts
and basic feelings
are gone
like flatulence
in the wind

This eccentric thinker
has no
commonplace
with the average person
We all claim
to be different
But here I am
in solitary confinement
No appreciation
Uncensored poetry
They'll never
understand

I'm writing for
the expulsion
of negative feelings
They're writing
to please an audience
Searching for
compassion
I consider it
to be a creative form
of pandering
Another kiss ass
cliche poet
May I be bold enough
to say
Fuck you I don't care

This could go
unnoticed
Bypass my entry
The world doesn't need
another boring
piece of poetry
Blog yourself to death
But at least
have the decency
if you're willing
and able
to do it with
good writing
