KEN ALLAN DRONSFIELD

KEN ALLAN DRONSFIELD

MORNING OF FADING BONES

Cold windswept beaches
feelings of an icy sentiment
forgive my hapless misdeeds
hiding behind my raised brow.
Starlight of reflecting twinkles
diamond chips in cool sands;
set of waves roll shore bound
ocean spray refreshes the soul.
The white clouds billowing fully
while town people now waltzing
carols of colored lights erupting
a flagrant truth on lost holiday's.
The lonely seek pious isolation
free of separated generations.
As I pray for today's young
dusty old bones fade away.

STING OF A SNOWFLAKE

The old barn moans and groans
as bones creak on this coolish day.
Step outside into cut fields of corn
and watch the winds conspire with
the grasses to tickle the setting sun.
From a dark cloud floating above,
a lone snowflake stings my nose.
Twilight time chases the day away
near the dead crab apple trees on
an autumn walk where I still roam.

SPLENDOR OF SEPTEMBER

I miss the smell of hibernating leaves,
watch as green grass turns a rusty hue
Popsicle stand is shuttered and closed
yellow flip flops left in the sand dunes.
family times
in autumn dreams
Many lonely gulls wander cool beaches
snowy egrets stand stoic by tidal pools
fresh apple displays at roadside stands
corn fields now barren, silos are filled.
lanterns alight
in autumn dreams
Cascade memories like watersheds
cleansing the long-neglected spirit
as time drifts on like a sweet sunset
smells of hot coffee complete a day.
September shines
in autumn dreams.
Chilled night air begs for hot cocoa
baked apple pie with vanilla ice cream
Christmas shopping on Saturday night,
the sweet splendor of my September.
