A Land that
Still Sings
From places
distant, across the nation,
We carry stories
that began centuries ago.
With the hands
moulded by different soils,
Our speeches
pass through different winds.
The temple lamp
brightens the path of church bells
The cool breeze
that carries the fragrance of faith
Chanting of
prayers in diverse mellow tunes
Brings peace to
every heart and soul.
The streets that
glow with Diwali lamps,
Sparkle with
shining stars on Christmas night
The hands that
share sweets on Eid,
Embrace their
loved ones of all religions.
Children smile
beneath the lanterns
Dancing to the
rhythm of love, with no boundaries
In the bustling
streets and quiet homes
Joy and pleasure
travel beyond faith.
There came
someone to draw border lines
Between the
hearts that never needed walls,
To fill the
streets with sounds of bullets
The voice of
anger turned faith into fire.
Still, the land
sings when we paint it blue,
With the pen
that we hold as torch
Though the land
often bleeds in pain
The healing
ensues when love meets courage.
Let the souls
with compassion open the door
Let the light of
freedom pass through the walls
Unity, not when
we are alike,
But, holding
hands beyond the unlike.
Vision Of Reality
The land that
shines with lights and lamps,
When temples
glow beside the mosque,
Church bell
becomes a perfect alarm to all,
And morning
adhan breaks the stillness of the dawn.
Sweets are passed to every hand on Eid,
Diyas lighten every heart on Diwali,
Silent nights are illumined with Christmas
stars
The colours of Holi flings through the yards.
People’s voices
in different languages,
Yet the songs
are of same meaning,
They give peace
and laughter to every soul,
Dancing to the
tunes of culture and habit.
Hands are joined in times of need,
Comfort stands for those who’re in pain,
Eyes shine with gustoes of trust,
Tender lips yield gentle smiles.
A colourful
dream, we keep alive
In our hearts
with warmth and love,
A single
attitude with countless emotions,
Leads to the
vision of reality that we strive to live.
