LEYLA IŞIK

Bodilessly

-In the very heart of the night, my heart flutters. It finds its tongue like telling an old fairy tale.

I paint your undeniable presence on the walls with its most beautiful colors.-

Where the night has withdrawn

When the moon has wrapped the beach without you in its light

When in the whispers of the wind

When waving goodbye to the impossible

After the ship outgoing

That very night

The mirror that took my face out of my hands

Had sunk into the deep waters of reunion.

Now on the same sea

We are two timid alone . . .

In the downpour of the memories

Our skins wake from sleep.

Our voices wander in space,

And interlace bodilessly.

Translated By Baki Yiğit

Child

İt's very cold, it's snowing," said the mother.

The boy ran to the window.

He wiped the mist off the glass with his tiny hands.

He put his forehead to the glass

“My father is coming,” she said.

Dreaming of a man from far away

"look! If you want to look mommy"

.......

An avalanche fell on a heart again

He left the room

By ignoring.

The mother cried silently.

The Mirror

O God, please let me get into bed one night with thoughts without you. And let me not get undressed to loneliness. Let me lie flat once over lightly and let me not see you on the walls. What is it? You’re there on the ceiling.

Dreams drop from the September leaves

One by one on my bed

Memories handcuff my hands

Loneliness blankets

Love-lies-bleeding laments

Oleanders cover my body

Unheard screams cut my sleep

Time grinds down a life in my bed

While searching for a light in dark

A bottomless pit all around me…

It attracts you into its darkness

I am resisting tonight stubbornly towards you.

I washed my eyes with the sun, and light stuck in my pupils.

O mirror, you wouldn’t be able to get it even though you want them!

Even though you would be on the ceiling, I will not close my eyes,

To be buried into darkness.

I will not give up in the hands of loneliness.

Memories won’t be handcuffs for my arms…

You too will see the light in my eyes.

You will get lost in the missing time. You will crack, you will break, and I will propagate in you. I will be present in every part of you, and the light in your pupils in every piece of you. You won’t be able to hold on to the ceiling as you will be dropping on me, falling apart to pieces…

I will no longer be in my bed.
