JOANNA WICHERKIEWICZ

JOANNA WICHERKIEWICZ

IN SEARCH OF DAILY BREAD
the feeling got rusty on emigration
tears and sweat are not good for love

tired longing
does not run the paths of fibre as often
decibels of conversations fell
time keeps on stretching and folding
spitefully

he got thinner
crumbs of the past
no-one can feed on them

a dream about happiness
grew bigger
in a bank account

she will wait

***

where
when the sea must be Mediterranean
lipstick from Chanel or Dior
botox shall erase the history

where
when the truth is asleep
manipulation
segregation
the press will write about this story

where
to god who
for good awards
for bad punishes

or
where
***
i have a good name
unchangeably
a present for the occasion of my birth
it wasn’t necessary
to build or burn
bridges

***
i don’t understand the killing
even for the price of hope
and dying i don’t understand
in the name of vague freedoms

how much there is to understand
in youthful boldness
and how much of memory of child’s play
in hide and seek
in piggy in the middle
war

real and comprehendible
is the cold of graves
in tears of those close
washed

history hurts
and
overwhelms
***
I often pass a house
beautiful and silent
it is looking at me with empty eyes of windows

just outside there is a hearth
longing for the joy of fire
a swing moved by the wind
lonely
a bike resting on the shoulder of the house
ready for its first trip
for years

sometimes i think it imprisons
them in that huge space
of marble and clinker
