A WISH OF MINE

I dream of the skies,

of pink and azure blue,

Where roses and cherries bloom,

To the song of the cuckoo!

Where lilies nod their

lovely fair heads neatly,

to the fluttering dance of

the singing butterflies sweetly!

Where Nature lives with all in sync,

Where little angels in halos blink,

Where the heart runs joyfully wild,

And in every soul lives a child!

THE INNOCENCE OF A CHILD

Have you ever noticed

The smile of a child!

Sweet an’ disarming, it exudes,

Its own innocence mild!

When it looks up to you,

In complete surrender and trust,

You can see the divine reflected

in its face and eyes flushed.

That gaze contains an innocence,

Unparalleled and pristine pure,

You can’t find equivalence,

In the entire universe, I’m sure!

So, let it preserve throughout its life,

It’ll help it to win every strife,

Protect, enhance that innocence,

And teach it to balance, with a lot of sense!

UNDER THE GULMOHAR TREE

O, what a joy it was,

To run to the Gulmohar tree,

I’d jump onto the little swing,

And be lost for hours in glee!

The little games we played,

Every evening, day after day,

Make me yearn for the lovely sunshine,

And dancing n jumping in the hay!

Mom and Granny were always

so pleased to wear,

The beautiful flowery garlands

We wove for their hair!

How we lay carefree under the,

Sprawling, flowery, sinewy tree,

Flashes in my mind again and again,

And in my fond reverie!

O, to be young again and free ,

To spend careless days and hours,

Mindless of  lightning, thunder or showers!

To dance and frolic under my dear tree!

She has published books and articles in international and national journals of repute, presenting research papers at many national and international conferences.  She is a bilingual poet at heart, writing in Hindi and English.  She has supervised many students successfully for their PhD degrees.
