RICHARD DOIRON

The Day Of Love And Peace

We wanted peace; the same we sought -

revenge but spelling yet a tomb! -;

we planted seeds thus peace we got

and oh! to see that "garden" bloom!

Our warring ways were set aside;

the time had come for peace to reign,

the fight, at best, but foolish pride,

which, truth be told, gave not a gain.

The peaceful path the one we chose,

we took to heart what saints had said:

found far and wide the scent of rose

the day that love and peace were wed.

Loose And Light

The elastic band that you hold in hand

is enough to trigger thought,

that it could extend and be stretched no end

or be tied into a knot.

In the life you lead there is much to read

as pertains to pliable -

you could stretch as well and escape the shell

with a voice that's viable.

It's the stiff and stern that will cause concern,

for the tension that it takes,

while the loose and light will be off in flight

for the shackles that it shakes.

Let Loose The Bird

He's not alone, not with a pen

So close at hand that speaks again,

Its message clearly coming through

With him that knows just what to do.

Transcribed the words onto the page,

Let loose the bird from out its cage -

In flight therefore each single word

That others, too, may soon have heard.

No boasts to make of being wise,

The poet prone to recognize

He holds the pen and little more:

The words are what the Muse is for.

The Scribe: That Kind Of Flame

Explodes the pen upon the page,

ascends the scribe to worlds unknown:

a wealth of words for all to gauge -

be deemed a fool or else a sage -

a call that's clear, a writ in stone.

No need to dwell on flash or fame -

the ether geared to stock and stack -:

poured seas of ink to douse a flame

that puts the sun to utter shame -

full speed ahead, no turning back.

And now a tome for him to tote -

too brief a pause for tossing dice -:

in time perused the words he wrote -

a passage here, perhaps a quote,

with luck on side not once, but twice.

The Canvas Never Bare

What's Nature made in time will fade,

the way that all things do,

but works a hand so great and grand

it takes your breath from you.

Each colour scheme becomes a dream,

when Nature makes the call,

be winter, white, else spring,

or summer green - or fall.

A perfect blend of hues no end,

the canvas never bare,

but that we've eyes to recognize

each masterpiece that's there.
