A Letter From Dushanbe

 

My dear,

I walk alone in Dushanbe now

After the floating clouds vanished

And orange sunshine penetrates my whole pores

I breathe a new spirit of the divine beauty

In a glowing part of this Central Asia

 

I wish you're here with me

Having the tasty breakfast, shurpa and samsa, at choykhona

Valuing each and everything God presents

In enthralled Tajikistan

 

You must see this most mind-blowing  landscape

As you often see in Monet's paintings

The turquoise lakes and picturesque green meadows

Reinforcing the bliss

before the very eyes, like in dream

 

My dear,

Someday, I will take your photographs

Wearing a blue cape with gulduzi embroidery

at crystal Iskanderkul, Chimtarga or Pamir

Oh....how I wish you're here.

 

 

Light Creeps Through The Crack

 

Going through life's valleys and paths

You may say the world is rude

Leads to a mental decay

That you take it as a sign of derangement

 

All the hopes may seem but futile

The body and mind become increasingly brittle

 

Trials and calamities

Trap you in roaring pain

Who's despairingly yearning for bliss

Hardly find a way-out but all in vain

 

But we are the humans

Who don't shrink from the hardships?

Just persist to be brave and upright

Waiting the light creeks through the crack.

 

 

Too Much Changes

 

We stand here

On the edge of the wildest imagination

Musing on the age's treasure

And seeking the shelter in the awkward world

 

Glistening modernity

Resulting stark contrast

Towards the tradition and the old habit

An interpretation of our extreme dream

 

Now we're here

Living with no choices but adaptations

Responding to too much changes

In too short period of time.

 

EWITH BAHAR

 

EWITH BAHAR is a published author, poetess, novelist, essayist and translator from Indonesia. She had a long-time career in a mass communication field.  Besides was known as a TV host at TVRI (a government TV station), she also was the first Public Relations Manager of Gran Mélia Hotel Jakarta. As a writer, Ewith has published nine books, including novel, an anthology of short stories, biography-essay and poetry books. Another three books are still ongoing process, will be published soon. One of her books, Sonata Borobudur, got a prestigious prize from Indonesian National Library, as The Best Five Indonesian Poetry Books 2019. Her poems were published in many national and international newspapers, journals and online medias. And also, can be found in approximately 70 poetry anthologies in Indonesia and abroad. Many of her poems have been translated into several foreign languages. Besides writing, she's  also an editor  and often invited as public speaker for communication matters, creative writing and bibliotherapy. Several years ago, she run a Public Speaking Course for children and teens, and also one of teachers for communications and Master of Ceremony at Interstudi and LEPPKINDO. Ewith now is active in Indonesian Book Channel.
