SANJA ATANASOVSKA

Flag

Where red and yellow are

I'm there too

I carry them with me and in myself.

Stones from all countries

they are not worth as much as one Macedonian grain of sand.

Whenever you need it

following my flag

you will find my root.

In The Glass Garden

It darkens me in the glass garden,

from the marriage of the rose and the hyacinth

a snowdrop was born.

In a barrel of wine

they threw me into space

between the sun and the moon,

silently I reaped the stars.

They brought me back alive

to grow old in a greenhouse,

and not to be afraid of bad people,

because I have one dying

and poetry for nine lives.

Disarmed

In love and disarmed to the point of pain

I surrender to you

even when you reject me

the distance becomes a pit

with aristocratic color

the broken key in the lock

is my mortal enemy

and I have no other consolation

except to be jealous of birds

having wings

to reach you.

Me, You And She

I today finally

I saw a little sun.

You get involved

in conversation with self-confidence

which subdues them

all in fear,

and she buys time.

I told you a hundred times

do not leave me among wolves.

I borrowed my eyes

from a deer.

Me, you and her,

we are parts of a complex life,

and a simple sentence

which I put together with glue,

one frame without a picture,

a broken illusion.
