LETIZIA CAIAZZO

Here and Now

I slow—not because I am tired,
but hungry for life that is truly real.
The world rushes on with unseeing eyes;
I stop with the wind, and I feel
a low wall all covered in moss,
and seize passing time by its collar.

The sun warms gently against my skin—
a soft and unspoken invitation.
The sea sings low, a muted hymn,
a melody of calm persuasion.
I listen, without any hurry,
and let it all wrap itself round me.

This is the life I have chosen to live:
no races, no lists to be kept—
just moments so brimming, so vivid with light,
they shine in the glances we have met.
The present becomes a dwelling place,
not a date that a calendar has left.

And if I am questioned where I go,
I answer without a moment's delay:
toward smiles that are genuine,
toward words that are clear and straight,
toward instants of intense grace,
toward living in truth, every day.

Qui ed ora

Rallento, non per stanchezza,

ma per fame di vita vera.

Il mondo corre senza guardare,

io mi fermo col vento

su un muretto coperto di muschio

e afferro il tempo per il bavero.

Il sole scalda la pelle

come un invito gentile.

Il mare canta a bassa voce,

una dolce melodia.

Ascolto senza fretta,

lascio che tutto mi avvolga.

Questa è la vita che ho scelto:

niente corse, niente liste,

solo attimi pieni

che brillano negli sguardi.

Il presente diventa casa,

non un appunto sul calendario.

Se mi si chiede dove vado,

 rispondo senza indugio:

verso sorrisi veri,

verso parole sincere,

verso attimi densi

verso un vivere autentico.

The Little Lizard

Here you are, little lizard,
out of the crevice's hold,
warming yourself in the sun's molten gold.
Your restless, beady eyes peer all around,
scouring the world
to dart into motion, swift and without a sound.

And I, just like you, watch the wide horizon
with a heart set to hear,
ready to move when the light draws near.
In your ancient, ageless breath,
I rediscover my own time, my own pace:
a pause, a hush—
a leap into life's open embrace.

La Lucertolina

Sei qui, piccola lucertolina,
fuori dalla fessura,
al sole a riscaldarti.

Gli occhietti mobili guardano intorno,
scrutano il mondo
per poi agire, rapida e silenziosa.

Io, come te, guardo l’orizzonte
con il cuore in ascolto,
pronta a muovermi quando la luce chiama.

Nel tuo respiro antico
ritrovo il mio tempo:
una pausa, un’attesa,
un salto verso la vita.

The Rainbow of Peoples

We would need a rainbow's span,
To embrace all people, woman and man,
Where each one finds their hue so bright,
In endless shades of hearts' own light.

We would need a smile so broad,
A gentle light that sweeps abroad,
To reach our hand to every other,
And bloom together, sister and brother.

We would need a flash, a spark so bright,
To sweep away all wars and hunger's blight,
A lightning stroke that pierces the gloom,
And leaves no trace of hatred's doom.

We would need a wisdom fair and wise,
To greet the same dawn in all our eyes,
To live in peace, one and all,
In a world that is home for great and small.

LETIZIA CAIAZZO

LETIZIA CAIAZZO: Letizia Caiazzo is an established and notable poetic voice and visual artist, whose creative research embraces both word and image with coherence and intensity. Born in Italy, she developed a multidisciplinary practice from a young age, exploring the deep connections between graphic signs, material, and text. Her poetry, often characterized by an essential and incisive language, investigates universal themes such as identity, memory, the body, and the relationship with the sacred and with the primary elements of nature. Her writing is charged with a strong visual and tactile component, reflecting her parallel activity in the visual arts. In her verses, the word is not just a vehicle for meaning, but becomes an object in itself, a mark on the page, in a continuous dialogue with white space. As a visual artist, her production – ranging from drawing and painting to installations and artist's books – is traversed by the same poetic unease and tensions. The two languages interpenetrate, giving life to works where text becomes a graphic trace and the image turns into a silent narrative. Recognition of her value is well-established both in Italy and abroad. Her works have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, poetry festivals, and contemporary art reviews across Europe and beyond. Her poetry collections, appreciated by critics, have been translated into several languages, contributing to the diffusion of her unique synthesis of lyricism and visual research. She actively participates in international artistic residency and cultural exchange projects. Letizia Caiazzo thus occupies a distinctive and notable place in the contemporary landscape, precisely for this ability to unite, in a single creative breath, the world of poetry and that of the visual arts, constructing an autonomous and recognizable expressive universe that transcends geographical and disciplinary boundaries.
