SCOTT THOMAS OUTLAR

SCOTT THOMAS OUTLAR

CLOSER TO THE CORE

Yellow is the color of salvation
when the light of your eyes
fades into the sun.

We are all One (with love).
But it’s important to be careful
not to get too caught up in the hype
of such a pretty concept,
else we forget the sordid fact
that there is war raging on the streets tonight.

Violence is born from two sides of the same coin
both believing they landed on righteous.
Pour a drink, flip it high,
and then let me know
which side of the line
you’ll be standing on this time.

Come closer, sweet angel,
and I will whisper all
the wicked truths I’ve learned
into your weathered ears.
I used to believe
that I could never tell a lie.
Now I know for sure
that even the most strident faith
still has a little room to stretch.

Yellow is the color of heaven
when the air from your lungs
blows out the fire.

VALHALLIAN EXCESS

I want to snort gold
and get high
on the savage flames
of an Apocalyptic urge

I want to bathe
in the excess glory
that shakes from the clouds
after dancing with God

I want to lick the sigh
from your throbbing navel
and taste the blood
when you weep with the moon

I want to feast on the flesh
from the fruit of the tree
and rest with the knowledge
that our innocence is complete

BALANCE ACT

Life is like that sometimes.
It gives and it takes.

Love is like that sometimes.
It’s sweet and it’s sour.

Laughter is like that sometimes.
It comes and it goes.

War is like that sometimes.
It hurts and it heals.

Fire is like that sometimes.
It burns and it cleanses.

Water is like that sometimes.
It flows and it fluxes.

Truth is like that sometimes.
It creates and it destroys.

Music is like that sometimes.
It inspires and it depresses.

Faith is like that sometimes.
It builds up and it tears down.

Life is like that sometimes.
God is like that sometimes.
