GEETHANJALI DILIP

Cesspool

Heal all of this like the still of night,

When dreams unfurl unseen in muted light,

And I don't really know who I am, try as I might,

Heal unwanted thoughts effacing them in the still of the night.

Heal the wounds that gape within my unopened eyes,

That sore my vision as I gaze at starry skies,

And I cannot see the hazy moon like articulated lies,

Heal shadows of illusions that haunt, mirages within my unopened eyes!

Heal sounds that crash in my noiseless head,

Pain trickling through my ears that with hurt bled,

And I struggle to turn deaf to them instead,

Heal my tumultuous void roaring in my noiseless head!

Heal the pain that jabs the pounding heart,

An emptiness inexpressible my peace to thwart,

An overcast murky sky a dawn to start,

Heal the gloom that clouds spew in the pounding heart.

"It's all within the mind that flutters with winds vagrant,

Sails that puff with angst, agony,

worry playing tyrant,

All the healing starts within when inner gusts calm triumphant,

The feather touch of unseen hands, comforting the soul radiant".

These words balm the drifting mind till my anguish cools,

Where bubonic sores eat the soul in maggot schools,

Worming up till truth lashes saying I am beyond thought spools,

And that I need not breed redundant trash in mind's cesspools.

July Rain

There you go

strumming my soul

with your deft notes

you've made out of

me

beloved.

I'm now voiceless,

sans lyrics,

in the melody of

your rendition of me.

My words you have silenced

with your mere chord of " G's"..

and now all I am is

your improvisation of

the sharps and flats of

emotions that tumble,

chase, ascend and descend

in a crescendo of

a mere a cappella,

Awed and mesmerized

in your caress

reading my soul

without touching me ..

as I reply in silence,

my heart a metronome,

your baritone voice

calling my name

the bass that thumps

the primordial rhythm

of universal breath..

echoes of distant stars

in a chaotic stillness,

like us!...

for you created

a song

out of

me!

Now shall we just hum

in unison with the clouds

and the tinkle of the rain

leaving ripples

where we

merged

as a

progression?

Nameless ..

Marble Eyes

I watch through marble eyes,

Glassy and splintered on the contour of this planet,

Absorbing the blues, grays and reds of transitory breezes,

Sometimes seascapes, sometimes hill slopes and mostly battlefields,

Tears drain from them but that doesn’t hurt any more,

I call it resignation.

Since I cannot scrub the images away, I let them blur,

I pinch a pimple all out of season on my cheek,

That is alabaster too now,

Vulnerable to stains with streaks from my eyes,

White noise sets fire to my ears,

Burning me to my navel as I grit my teeth,

The roadside eateries play a crass song,

Again, I resign myself to clamour like an old habit,

Numbers keep increasing like mould on bread,

And my coffee has already gone cold under the fan,

The lamps I lit before dawn don’t say a word,

They are all eyes though deaf mute,

I watch them and finally let my marble eyes do the talking.

One more day unravels in chain links of muffled sighs,

It’s still the same frame in my vision.

And the year has run out of surprises.
