SMARAGDI MITROPOULOU

In Memoriam…

For my mother

Fading memories

lost in oblivion

before the sun sets.

Clock of time

strucks midnight.

A bougainvillea alone

reminds you.

I remember...;

Do you remember ...?

Images are slow

faces ... landscapes ....

but you kept me as an amulet.

Your gaze froze on me

and then ...... silence.

Revelation

Without frills

and lent ornaments

on early sunrise

words were stripped.

Mirrors cracked

by the weight of shame.

Crowds remained silent

under the light.

Poetry goes the narrow path uphill.

On a proud rock

the shadow of Holy Mary embraces her.

White tunic

holy grail

the sound of bell

the song of the waves

redemption time…

Eternity

Sky is a foreign land

angels are travel birds

looking for their familiar old places.

You spread your wings over the oceans

with a red fire scarf

a kiss on the eyes

oh, rainbow of the heart.

There is no "goodbye" to this love

you will be back here again

on the sea waves

wandering around the straits of time.
