IBRAHIM HONJO

On The Curls Of Dawn

I was on the curls of dawn

the morning lolled out with the dawns of thought

words died in me,

the wanderings of the idlers awoke.

from the clouds, I gently emptied the rain

of snowflakes, I built the walls

behind which I rested for days,

with silences filled the vaults of rooms

in my father's house,

and the ghost begged to help me

with stolen death,

but I couldn't break.

Ignorance Of The Eyes

It is a large chain of black and white gold

sleepless days and nights.

I have been involved in it all my years.

Above me hung starred city, stellar,

the plants have grown into my strength,

and I gave it to flowers,

and no strength left.

Now I buried my hands, my eyes,

my soul, my lips into a new emptiness.

In a dream, flowers appear to me,

a little bigger than love - a little longer than life,

emptiness pours its message to me.

I float like some starry city

decorated with internal unrest,

I float beaten by lightning and storms,

I float untouched - I float defiantly.

Won't hope maybe turn green,

won’t dreams maybe be the reality of reality,

am I not frilly on the inside with the most ordinary,

the smallest and sweetest screams?

Is it lisp maybe ears of dried grass

which reap it tired hands,

or I have no hearing,

or have those eyes of mine ceased to be seen?

Eyes watching, but their vision is blurred,

emptiness and loneliness drink off them once upon a time,

as I wonder in this distant evening,

a little alien to myself, known to my shadow,

did this wave have to crush just me?

While only salt-water flows down it and foams it,

I am trying, in this blindness, emptiness makes green.
