DEJAN GJOSHEVSKI

Night Spirits

Lying alone in the dark room,

Every night,

In the gloom,

Trying to cover and sleep,

I see strange shadow creep.

One slowly comes near,

Places its head close to my ear:

“You must not sleep now,

If you want to get HER back,

Somehow.’’

Another, with a dark voice, states:

‘’Keep your eyes open

Through the night,

Since you love her, right?

Hold that burden tight.’’

The third, with a gentle smile

That gleams,

Speaks in my dreams:

‘’Even if you wait

Till the judgment day,

She won’t come back,

Anyway.

Forget her empty words,

Only then you’ll dispel

These false ghosts.

The poison you drink

Every night

Won’t let you sleep

Alright.’’

Memories

Memories,

Embroidered in my heart,

Hung in my soul

Like art.

Suspended

As if on a hook,

Those memories,

In my mind etched,

Spread before my eyes,

Tightly sketched.

Memories,

Causing the soul

Unrest,

Drowning thoughts

In a deepened crest.

Memories,

How I yearn to

Sand you away,

To forget,

So, I may straighten

My neck once more

And find my path

As before.
