Lord, Divine Strength

 

From the deepest

atom of my marrow,

from the deepest artery of my heart,

my mind gallops, enraptured, along paths traveled

as I contemplate your creation.

 

Oh! Magnanimous universe,

who created you with such perfection?

Who could create the stillness of your seas with their gentle, calm swaying, of salty waters filled with marine creatures dancing in symmetry and harmony?

 

Who could give color to your meadows like the beauties of flowers that not even King Solomon could dress with such glory and elegance?

 

Who could create your celestial vault, with your ethereal fluid that gives us life at every moment? The sun, symbol of luminosity that warms us from dawn to its zenith?

The moon between the silent night and the firmament of thousands of twinkling fireflies that invite us to love?

All in magnificent congruence, symmetry, and synchronization!

 

There is only one divine force that could, like the artisan, shape our sidereal world with galactic circles that spin and spin in the nebula without touching, with a calculation of universal laws.

 

Oh systems of systems,

of milky life of a cosmic world. I am a minuscule particle that demands space from you / I am so tiny that only you, Lord, can care for the work of your hands for the pleasure of man.

You gave us a paradise

so that they may enjoy this gentle beating of your womb, magnetized by your earth, your nourishing cornucopia that cries out for justice and vindication.

 

Take care of our universe, Lord, for I want to remain magnetized to your soil, to your mud, to your humus. I want to harvest wheat, corn, see the tree planted in a ditch and still be bonanza with its fruits.

 

I want to hear the birdsong, a celestial melody, a hummingbird hanging on its flowering pistil.

Give me, Lord, a galactic particle, a sacred place where your universal love is reflected in every contemplation of your universe.

 

We deserve it, Lord, despite not having cared for it.

Thank you, Lord, for so much love poured out, for every grandeur and beauty of your creation.

 

That Endless Universe

 

I thirst for a constant

My soul searches for you tirelessly

I dive into your reefs

of corals/pearls / you trap me

 

In the midst of that translucent /

diaphanous sea of mother-of-pearl

I feel among labyrinths

waving algae/foliage

emerging like necklaces

your symbols of emeralds

 

My fingertips are in a hurry

to navigate in your signs

to sketch your undulating waves

to flood the winds with caresses

my verses / my romances

 

On your starry blanket

on your waiting belly

on your bubbling ocean

 

That endless universe

are your words

connected one by one

with loops of ribbons in a lullaby

your raised letters flaring

 

Of my cries / chimeras

my yearnings / my madness

my anger / my deliriums

of my tenderness / your beauty

 

In the midst of this vast sea

I wait for you faithfully / anxiously

for you to touch my temples / my fingertips

to immerse myself in your thunder

LUISA CAMERE QUIROZ :Peru / USA. A lover of literature, she was born in Lima, Peru, graduated in Education at the Universidad Mayor de San Marcos, obtained her California Credential and directed Early Childhood Education Programs for 30 years in Peru and the USA. In her golden years she dedicated herself exclusively to literature.
