SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

A Look At Life-12

The hands that groomed me,
the eyes that loved me,
the ears that listened to me,
are no more.

The fountain of love,
the epitome of sacrifice,
the perennial stream of wisdom,
is no more.

The beautiful tree
under the shadow of which
i played and smiled,
grew and developed,
and lead a care free life
is no more.

No more is the man,
who manned and schooled me?
and made me what I am.
No more is the window
through which l looked at,
no more is the giant patriarch
who lived his whole life?
for others and the values, he held high.

I am all alone,
in a sparkling whirlpool,
the sea is boisterous,
getting violent and virulent
and more and more turbulent,
the able navigator is no more,
who will bring me ashore?

A Look At Life-13
By-Smruti Ranjan Mohanty

Slowly but surely
i am to detach
from all that I love and fancy
and prepare the body and mind
for the final detachment
to have a hug
with the lady of my life

I am to bid farewell
to all those beautiful moments
and nicest of relationships
which made my life
a heaven on earth

Bit difficult
but worth enduring
for i am never to live
under a shadow and
in perpetual fear of
losing something
which is never mine

It is the go of the world
one who has come
has to go
even the sun and moon
have lives of their own

To lament for something inevitable
is nothing but abuse of life
better to prepare
for that journey
with a smile on lips
with chest up and head high
to have that ultimate romance
with the queen of night

A Look At Life-14
By-Smruti Ranjan Mohanty

A chair on wheels
is all that you have
to move and look
at the world
which is not
as it was

You are on your last leg
confined to bed
interacting and socializing
with an unknown face
but still dreaming and hoping
a better future for your kids to come by
all of you are alike
never desire anything for self
live every bit of life
for the sake of those
who have their own life
to live by

The ocean of love and sacrifice
is in a small well
having no takers
for what she says
the pupil of her eyes
so engrossed in their world
have little time to stand and stare

Nothing has changed
you remained the same
and the world around
your blood even today
are true to yourself
everything remained the same
only time has changed
and with change in time
changed the priorities of life
and the values and emotions of man
