SHALINI MASCARENHAS

I Agree With You Lord

I agree with you Lord

that it is better to have a clean heart

than to bring those fake gifts to you;

or even try to bribe you.

Thank you, Lord Jesus

for reminding us time and again

to do good,

to be good with one another,

to love one another,

to help one another when in need;

then to act like a hypocrite

and grumble when we are not blessed.

Thank You, Lord, for reminding us

that you died on the cross for us;

and that if we wanted to go to heaven

we must go for a confession

and reconcile with our loved ones

and pray for our enemies.

The Cracked Walls

The cracks in the wall

and the dirt in the hall

tells a story of an abandoned home.

Where once was love and laughter

ringing through those walls

today there's silence

as it rings through your ears.

A bitter sad story of a family destroyed for wealth

time moved on, and their story was forgotten.

Today, the walls are bare

and naked truth hidden within its corners;

the luxurious life once lived

not cobwebs and insects crawling along.

Nobody dares to enter the house

for they say the lost souls haunt it

lingering within the gates of the house.

Eerie sounds one can hear

are they insects?

or are they night birds

or the lost souls?
