SILVANA DIMITRIEVSKA

Death

Ominous silence lords in evil.

I burned all the words and buried them

on the edge of humanity.

Poetry died among the ruins of the world.

Half a bed with a still warm pillow,

half a wall, and a picture crooked

at which smiling eyes smile.

part of a former table that

still retains the smell of bread,

part of a colorful ceramic vase

and part of a child's hand that

like a flower sprouts among the ruins.

Growing in me that hunger that is silent.

My soul dies in a single tear.

A man dies in the heart of a child.

Poetry dies among the ruins of the world.

We all died on the day the silence reigned.

Light

They said to me, blessed am I among women!

When God's breath gathered

Love into one seed,

He gave it to me to keep.

Every day to see only light.

Neither day nor night. Not sunrises or sunsets.

Just a point where

evil and good, world and beauty touch...

Let it be day. Let it be the light.

Olive branches gave me

to make shadow for me.

A barren fig tree blossoming before my eyes.

And every weed knows my name.

And every star knows my face.

Ah, I stand small of the smallest,

and wait for the day when

all the Love gathered in that seed will be poured out.

I, blissful among women, blissfully stand

with a thorny crown on my head

and blood flowing from my breast.

I break the seed, I pour out love,

I gather death in the empty place,

I gently lay it down to rest, to dream,

so that the world may be born again in light.
