An Evening Sky
A slash of
Blue! A sweep of Gray!
Some scarlet patches - on
the way -
Compose an evening sky . . .
—Emily Dickinson
So sweet was
the scent of
those evenings
when
our steps
invented long distance routes
in the summer
gardens
when
slowly the
lights were lit
and competing
with the moons and the stars
formed parabolas
of light
on the opaque
stones of the paths.
Then, life
just begun
seemed to reveal
a sky of unreal
colours.
Countless images
(fragments of
old memories)
that today
recreate and
break
in the weary
kaleidoscope
of the mind.

Insomnia
To Lee Krasner
I am never
free of the past
Lee Krasner
Springs, East
Hampton, 1961
I will insist on
wandering in a maze
of silence and
distress.
Jackson
Pollock’s silent ghost
will be the
companion of my days.
From my brush
drops and
splashes will fall on the canvas that will form
indefinite arcs
or traces
loops and curved
lines will come to life
in dull umber
tones.
At last I will
feel
a great peace in
my mind while
I listen to the
tired voice of this ebony night
and in the dark
a weak echo
will make its
way
with the ebb and
flow of moon tide.
