SUJATA DASH

Wisdom

I am an ardent seeker

Constantly examine new ideas and thoughts

Refrain from being defensive

Appease my enormous thirst to know and learn

From Knowledge to wisdom

It has been a seamless transition

For books and periodicals

Are my constant companion

Books and journals bail me out from

The narrow confines of false pride and ego

Guide me to ....

Learn with devotion,

Unlearn to keep my feet rooted

And remain humble forever

Knowledge is my muse and mentor

In the path of absolute wisdom

It sharpens wit, augments fearlessness and freedom

Helps find enough in less

Harping on life's ultimate purpose

through subtle realization.

Journey

Those two pink lines filled my heart with joy

Months of doubt and procrastination as regards possibilities

Was laid down to complete rest

I breathed an extensive sigh of relief

For having triumphed the very first phase

Like any other woman on this earth

My motherhood journey

Was both challenging and inspiring

At the same time

Inspiring in the sense...

A tiny life was fluttering deep inside

Giving rise to excitement of a different kind

Challenging because ...

I embraced motherhood quite late in life

The journey undertaken was fraught with

Doubt, fear and anxiety

Months followed in quick succession

Anxiety kept piling on

From meditation to exercise

From eating healthy to honing positive vibes

I challenged myself every morn to fit into

The new set of restraints and restrictions

As my EDD neared, I was furthermore nervous

My heart started pumping more blood into the system

I was on a hospital bed for the first time

Was recovering from spells of anesthesia

Administered during the process of delivery

Could faintly hear people discussing...

"Isn't she cute like a fairy?"

 I raised my trembling hands,

And could feebly speak...

But mustered up courage to begin

"Let me hold my most precious gift,

Cradle my bundle of joy with yearning

Thank her immensely for choosing my womb

Blessing me to be a fountain of

Perennial love and ecstasy."
