CHRISTOS DIKBASANIS

There Are No Seasons

There are no seasons in the Universe

and time has surrendered control

of its swift-winged chariot to the timeless,

playing hide and seek

with yesterday, the present, the future

Wet to the core by electrified storms

I acquired an indestructible body

and reason with the luster of metal

I no longer cry for my separation

from my cradle, the Earth

I only seek to discover the truth of my being,

the star within me that burns alone

in the fire of my existence

Now my heavenly paths are determined

and my destinations await me

brightly and alive in the depths of infinity

where there are no seasons

Always there dominates

a warm, hospitable Sun

that will bathe me with its hopeful rays

The Deviation

My God, how far I have strayed

from my right path!

My God, when did the stars

that illuminated my heavenly destination go out?

I always wanted to believe

how I could reach my dreams and desires

to touch them, to grab them,

to make them completely mine,

to not let them belong only to my imagination

but now the Sun bows his head sadly,

when he sees me wandering into unknown worlds,

have I lost my way,

following other wrong, strange, dangerous directions

What did I do wrong and now I am following wrong paths

that lead only to destruction and nowhere?

I betrayed myself alone

and now my Achilles heel is bloody and hurts

Who these winged, dark figures

that have surrounded the starship of my life death?
