Awakening

 

Stone splits from stone, stone leans on stone,

the Guardian of the Threshold takes on a maimed body.

A frightened sleepwalker, stunned by his dream-drunk crimes

the dawning Moon, Christ and Mithras gaze in awe.

Moon-joint, moon-shield, and the gaping moon-press.

A stunted breed is ground and gathered by one hand,

 

and pinned like an insect to the earthbound one

who descended - or rose up from the deep.

Awakening chosen one, companionless;

he calls no more, nor follows others.

He flings away a shattered mirror, a notched dagger,

and strangles the mongrel, zombie-like guard.

From the press: thin, clotting pulp -

conjured forth from his own inner vileness.

He parts from his shadow. Ashen shadow.

Even from the closing mist he sees where the Grail lies.

Kő hasad kőről, kő simul kőre,

testet ölt csonkán a Küszöb Őre.

Ijedt alvajáró álomittas rémtettein

ámul a derengő Hold, Krisztus és Mithras.

Holdízület, Holdpajzs, s a tátott Holdprés.

Csökött fajt őröl-gyűjt egyazon kéz,

 

s rovartűre tűzi a földközel,

ki alászállt, vagy a mélyből jött fel.

Ocsúdó kiválasztott, társtalan;

immár nem hív, nem követ másokat,

elhajít tört tükröt, kicsorbult tőrt,

s megfojtja a korcs, zombi-szerű őrt.

Présből híg, alvadó massza: belső

hitványságából bűvölte elő.

Megválik árnyékától. Hamvas árny.

Az összezáródó ködből is látja, merre a Grál.
