A World Where Love Is The Only Map

 

The world is changing,

In colors and shifting shapes.

Sometimes the sky is a hopeful blue,

Sometimes it is gray with grief,

Or black as the shadow of bombs and drones.

 

But this is not the world our children deserve.

They are beautiful creatures,

Yet, many only know the language of war,

The hollow ache of hunger, and the cold of being abandoned.

 

What can we do to find empathy?

We do not want to see them cry,

Or watch them wander through the sadness

Of a life with no mother, no home, no sweetness.

 

Oh God, why can there not be tolerance and peace?

If there is room for everyone beneath the sun,

If there is land enough for every soul,

Then, there should be bread enough for every mouth.

Hunger should not exist.

War should not exist.

Power should not be a game played for interest,

Cold and hollow, without heart or compassion.

 

I claim a world of empathy and tolerance,

Where we respect the breath of every creature.

In the vast sky, on the steady land, and in the deep sea.

A world where love is the only map,

And selfishness is finally forgotten.

 

Farewell To War!

 

Oh, World: Be our echo of love and peace!

Put an end to wars—those agents of desolation, hatred, and lamentation.

bloodshed in vain, running wild and unhinged

amidst a devastation that tears at our very souls.

 

Let us say in unison: Farewell to war!

 

For it stifles voices.

It plunges us into the void, into misery.

It turns homes into ruins, leaving children

orphaned, and the elderly—with trembling hands—

without shelter or solace.

 

Let us bid farewell to war,

which turns cities into ash.

For it is desolation and darkness,

cruel abandonment and hunger.

In contrast, peace is a song of joy.

It is serenity—a rebirth each day.

It is the gratitude we offer to the Universe.

It is beauty revealed in every facet of life.

It is love, enveloping us and healing broken hearts.

It is the bliss that banishes tears.

It is the happiness that embraces us.

 

Peace is a panacea of pure love

that allows us to gaze upon the lush green meadows,

the imposing silhouettes of the mountains.

to feel the caress of the breeze

and taste the nectar of the bees.

It is the promise of renewed life,

bathed in the warm rays of the sun.

 

Therefore, we can declare in chorus that life is a treasure

one that, bound by ties of brotherhood, we must guard and protect

from those who seek war out of greed and cruelty.

 

Can you feel the difference between the dark abysses

of war and the brilliant Light that peace bestows upon us.

 

Lift your voice in this song; let its music reach you.

let our prayer become your own, and in unison

with a mighty cry that transcends all borders

let the fools, debased by power, hear this:
