DONNA MCCABE

DONNA MCCABE

Bibliophile

I have to confess

I'm a bibliophile

I am a right lover of books

They have taken over all the house

In all the cranny's and all the nooks

Their stacked up all over the place

There's not much room to move

But I can't help but buy yet another book to read

It's as if to myself I have something to prove.

Fading

Feeling not quite here any more

Blending in with the world and its surroundings

Feeling like a chameleon

Wanting to shy away

From the harsh realities that are life

At least for a while

Needing time to heal.

Expressions

A bank of knowledge

A treasure trove of words

The mind spills forth ink

Before now not seen or heard

Imagination in flight

Wanting to express what it sees

Sometimes it's overwhelming

Bringing one to their knees

Overpowering emotions

Bizarre occasions or events

It's the most powerful of tools

When one feels a need to vent

Expressions come in many guises and forms

Be it stuffy, strained and constricted

Or fluffy, outlandish and not the norm.

Last Kiss

The catch up is over

The talk filtered out

Nothing left to say

We both know it won't work out

Just one last slow dance

One last intimate embrace

love still tugging at heartstrings

As the pulses they race

The love will last forever

As first loves always do

but we aren't getting anywhere

This thing that's me and you

The song comes to a climax

We kiss our last kiss to say goodbye

This love is a love I know

I will cherish forever

As I walk away with a tear in my eye.

Lock Down

I have put my heart on Lock down

Put it in a safe place

To keep it out of harms way

For it has been used and abused

Broken and battered so many times

In so many ways

It needs time to recuperate

To heal and replenish

What was stolen away

Maybe someday it will know

The purity of what others call true love and affection

But for now it's on lock down

Stored away in a safe place

That no one but myself knows.

Mind Reader

You got in my mind

You knew right away how I thought

I get in a tangle

When I know that I'm caught

We know what each others thinking

A kind of secret telepathy

Your my mental sounding board

When things get the best of me

We know each other on another level

A deeper bond if you will

It's a skill some don't understand

Or never will

But I think it's cool and great

We are two that think as one

A mental kind of chemistry

That's worth its weight in fun.
