THE RAIN REMINDS ME OF YOU

The rain reminds me of you
Every droplet signifies the cleansing feeling you brought,
The dewey aftertaste that lingers on the branches of trees
Aromatic fragrance after pouring down putting an end to a dry spell.
The rain reminds me of you
Not because you only gifted me with grief but of shedding a new light,
For the rain also symbolizes a fresh frontier, a new beginning
The promise of growth after sprinkling the Earth with Hope.
The rain reminds me of you
When I am at the pinnacle of my love for you,
King Sun had to hide behind your shadow and parted the clouds
To give way to your reign, to showcase your enigmatic prowess
Leaving me in deep revelry, embracing the moment.
You keep on flooding the ground like the time when your charm engulfed my heart
You are like the cleansing rain showers
That gives life to fragile valleys and lonesome rivers
The antidote to a thriving stiff mountain range
Bringing back lush greeneries to a dull sanctuary
The rain reminds me of you
For our moments were captured in every drop .

YEARNING SOUL
(a poem composed just after the pouring rain)

my soul yearns for the nearness of you
to hear your voice like a beautiful melody echoing behind the darkness,
to have your hand fit into mine
to be lost in oblivion with only you,
to look at the stars and marvel at the moon
while talking about the Universe and how you moved my heart
my flame yearns to unite with your fire,
to ignite again the warmth of this dying ember
to get lost in your eyes, to melt with just a glimpse of your smile
the pilgrim in me yearns to have you walk with me in my journey,
to put an end to a dark spell with my thousand years of waiting for only you
my soul yearns for the nearness of you.

SILHOUETTE

At a distant horizon my mind drifts away
cascading shadows follow me everywhere
even in my dreams where your silhouette haunts me
your smile still lingers, those eyes that seem to tell me I should stay
In the afterglow, I can still see traces of splendid moments we had
Cut short by destiny as hearts kept distance with words  which remained untold.
Your sultry silhouette haunts my every breath
Succumbing to love's call even if it will be against all odds
There is something about the way you make this heart quiver
Always bringing me back to you no matter how far I roam.
That wicked silhouette framing a broken soul
Pierced my deepest core the moment I had to let you go
But only time and destiny can foretell if ever this yearning will lead me back to you once more…
