My Homeland India

 

Unity in diversity Woven into its fabric,

It does seem to struggle and stretch

But remains woven intact,

It’s an emotion a feel a connect, it’s a bond

Million reasons to feel proud of our homeland,

We, fortunate citizens of this kaleidoscopic nation

Passion defines our soldiers who defend the borders

Large stretch of green fields selfless grit defines our farmers

Our Freedom struggle will be our crowning glory,

The Rich cultural heritage reverberates in history

Sagas of bravery

Epics of chivalry

Stories of love

A journey of progress,

A steady growth since era of independence,

Progress with times,

Globalization and tech savvy millennials

Carves the image of the Modern India,

 

As we reside in a foreign land

Emotions overwhelm us

While we hear and hum the National Anthem,

Sacrifices of our forefathers steer our strong foundation,

As we reminisce their illustrious path,

We resolve to carry the prestigious tricolour flag,

We resolve to keep up our secular fabric and swag

 

The Fire Within

 

It might Consume us,

Rather let it flow out as cascades

of soothing balm to heal a broken soul.

 

It might Confuse us,

Ponder over it, intercede, find a way

Let it be a pot brimming with hope.

 

It might comfort our selfish self,

Reflect on it, before it dents another self

Let it console miserable selves.

 

It might create in us a passion,

a virtue unknown, a human renewed

Let it nurture yourself, know more of the inner strength.

 

It might build a community or mar one

Let it take the path of compassion,

of coexistence, build broken fences.

 

Fuel the fire which binds not divides!

NIVEDITA ROY, a native of Lucknow currently residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain, is an acclaimed poet and writer. She was the runner-up for the prestigious Reuel International Award 2023 for poetry, conferred by The Significant League. A dedicated teacher, Nivedita has authored six poetry collections, a book of essays, and a short story collection. She has also contributed to approximately 40 + international anthologies. Her poems and articles have been featured in numerous global magazines, newspapers, and online platforms. In addition to writing, she actively hosts literary shows online promoting literature and the arts.
