MARIA MIRAGLIA

MARIA MIRAGLIA

THE AIR
So pure the air
of the ancient aurorae
fresh and light
swaying on the lawns
aloft
trought the  silent mountains
pushed one time
smoothly
sails of boats at sea

The lights of the stars
dawn after dawn turned off
seasons after season
time glided away
while
chimneys
like poppies in spring
sprung out
higher and higher
as if to defy the sky
obscure the sun

Mouths blowing smoke
spitting toxins
darken the Air
getting sadder and sadder
more and more soothe
almost can be heard itself coughing

Unable to articulate words
it’s with the nature slow getting sick
the relentless upheaval
of the seasons
the clear damages
in people' bodies
She asks Man
to take care of her
to save the common house

HOLD MY HAND

Hold my hand
and open your lips
to a smile
your eyes betray
the fears and wants of
the child in you
Give me your hand
and let it be
forget your pains
and barefoot we'll go
up to the hill
caressed by the morning dew
Hold my hand
and under the silent elm
tell me of you and
open the cage
of my thoughts and emotions
transparent like the crystalline waters
of a rivulet
they will flow
from my soul to yours
The dark clouds
on the horizon will then turn into
brushstrokes of a bright white

SHADOWS

We meet people
so many
travelling
in pubs or schools
black or white
christians or muslims
fair or nasty ones
mean or compassionate

Each with their destinies
with stories to tell
their happiness and sorrows
we talk with them,
listen to them,
share segments of life
to see them go back
each to walk the paths
of their individual lives

Nothing abides
neither the memories
shadows fading away
in the darkness of the past
