SILAS
ABAYOMI
IN THE COURTYARD OF
THIRTY FAMILIES:
In the courtyard
of
thirty masters-
of six thousand
individuals-
eight billion
souls live,
in the courtyard
thirty
patrons,
from Arctic to
Antarctica
from sunrise to
sunset
humankind serve
and
worship daily.
global space-
superclass
control-
NewSpace-they
create and
world collective
wealth
they possess.
With a single
bus-load of
world wealthy
powerful souls
WWPS,
about five billion
souls
had been robbed of
their
possessions;
with sixty-four wealthy
souls,
humankind is left
with half of
world resources to
share.
Through
politicians,
superclass roar
humankind
quiver,
through
politicians,
superclass sneezes
mankind catches
cold;
anytime they blast
horn,
every soul stoop
and
bow down.
From Tokyo through
Moscow to Beijing
via
Bonn, Berlin,
Paris, Brussels,
London, Rome, en
route
New York, and
Washington,
all Legislative
Chambers and
Capitol Hills-they
own.
Through surrogates
their desires
become
inviolable decrees
and edits,
which
humankind obey.
In boardrooms of
owned
corporations,
by means of
proxies-
paid executives-
these mortal lords
determine
humankind’s fate;
by dint of
policies and principles,
these human angels
put
humanity in chain.
In religion-their
myrmidons-
loyal friends-hold
humankind
submissive to
their desires and
wishes through
unquestionably
obedience, fear,
and damnation
Because of needs,
wants, and
every day desires,
permanently,
humankind
they put in
plantations or
slave camps from
sunrise to
sunset;
because of commercial
activities of
demand and
supply,
indenture they
force on
fellow humans.
Anytime humankind
revolt,
they suppress by
their cavalry,
anytime humankind
wage war,
violence from
stockpiled cannons,
they use to teach
a lesson.
Once enemies are
defeated,
harsh decrees and
orders-
they roll out,
demanding more
from defeated
without any
compassion.
In this courtyard,
different laws,
edits,
decrees, and codes
apply to different
people,
one for royalty
the other for
the plebeian.
When blue-blooded
run afoul
of the law,
law is gentle,
kind, and soft,
but when commoner
does,
law runs full
course with
corresponding
punishment.
One world! One
world! One world!
many social
classes,
ranked by status
of achievement,
controlled by the
powerful.
SILAS ABAYOMI
This is a poem that mirrors the injustice among those who claim to uphold equity. Nice piece.
