MARIA
CRIS D. ADONIS
TODAY;SANCTUM OF
YESTERDAY
I am standing here
today, respiring this glorious air
Rapidly breezing;
caressing the outer layer of my senses
I am roaming
around under this temperate condition of my father sun
Observing these diversified
pigments on my skin
Listening to the
melodious chirps of the birds and wavering of trees
And today, I am
staring above to rubberneck these silhouette shadows of contemporary
civilization
My naked eyes only
perceive the diversity of mindful minds,
And all the
humanity of a refurbished aeon
These entire
innovation, I can’t resist!
T’was indeed;
unworldly to elucidate…
Today and every
day,
I am still
wandering; longing for my indigenous biosphere.
All of my senses
now; engrossing this kind of biotic living
Consciously
acquiring the rapid paced of existence
And this day, I am
standing here again.
I am breathing
this venomous air
My bare eyes
couldn’t even see the exquisite sunlit of my golden father.
My auditory senses
couldn’t even hear the sweet warbling of the birds,
But the
aggravating beeps of the wheels!
My skin couldn’t
even feel the moderate condition of my dearest atmosphere,
But its blazing
touch!
I am simply
standing here, reminiscing the wonder of my yesterday.
Those tangible
nature of my glorious yesterday!
Where is my
yesterday?
Oh! My dearest
yesterday! What could’ve I done to salvage your distress?
And I’ll be
standing here again, mending my yesterday!
SCHOOL OF LIFE
STUDENTS TEACH ME HOW
This greatest
solitude; found from a room
Leading my bare
feet to this quotidian routine
Cool morning, it
was!
Giggling out loud,
whispering,
Exchanging
discourse with peeps.
Sigh! I enter the
room with an optimistic mood
Holdin’ a marker
in an appealing posture
Greet them as to
start the wonder of the day.
Starting the
strokes on the white board
Imparting what
I’ve got to share
Staring at them;
t’was indeed priceless
Knowing the
possibilities what might they’ve be
Others are keen,
while some are neither,
But what I know
is,
They will become
somebody
The bell is loud
as it rings!
They are all ready
to leave.
Started to bid
their dearest goodbyes
I was left alone,
wondering about their thoughts
Inside that room,
where I found the piece of my serenity
Various faces that
come and go annually
Acquiring the
lessons, and it should be
But what’s ironic
is,
They revealed the
answers of my inquiries.
Where I fin’lly
found the peace of my journey.
“MY ONE AND ONLY HALCYON”
Tribute to my beloved first
child who passed away seven years ago
Years ago, I found my greatest
Halcyon in my arms.
Your tiny eyes,
Stared at mine
T’was my most blissful hour;
You are my most precious dear.
You cried!
And I gave you the sense of being
gratified.
I carried you gently in my arms;
You smiled sweetly,
And close your eyes heavenly.
Til time set us apart,
Great desolation occurred
Dolorously trying to fathom,
This unexpected soreness.
After the years of confusion;
Time did mend.
Oh! My dearest Halcyon,
My one and only love.
You are now in a wonderful place;
Playing above the clouds
And every night,
I am reaching you; staring at the
light upward
Hearing your giggles,
While touching the calmness of my
heart.
As long as this tangible scar
exist,
You will be imperishably loved.
My dearest angel, my everlasting
love.
My teenage seniors
They learn the
lessons of life
Come and go yearly
