IVAN JENSON

IVAN JENSON

ME, MYSELF AND WI-FI

I plug in
and tune out
I scroll and troll
I post and comment
like or delete
I text and next
I pocket my cell
and dwell in the place
that I must face
the air, taste and smell
and the feel of the real
but then I snap
and chat
about how another day
has been trumped
by Trump's tweet
and some friend’s
sweet pics of fun
in the sun
in Acapulco
as I trudge
knee-deep
and slo-mo
through actual not virtual
emotional snow

INTERSECTION BLUES

Have you always
been vital with the statistic
of being the heartthrob
and twinkle in your mother’s eye?
Did you really go through
the trauma and high and low drama
of teenhood
in some Mr. Roger's neighborhood?
Or maybe you rose up
out of urban decay
to make the most
of the lemon you were handed
which rendered you still tart
from the lost art
of finding that you
have been invented
from the ground up.
And now do you plan
on changing
your insignificant lovers
or bringing a whirlwind
of peace
to your sisters
and brothers?
There are so many questions
I will never ask you, the driver
of your own destiny
so very Toyota and divine
in your anointed car next
to mine

ROOT CAUSE

I need a coach
an enabler,
a self help guru
to scold and hold me
and to direct
the rush hour
traffic jammed
in my racing thoughts
about the opposite sex
and next
I need a patron
saint
who will bless me
with anointed
stacks of cash
which I will stash
in a flask of holier
than thou conceits
next to
a stack of receipts
of all the love
I will buy
wholesale
because we all know
funny money honey
for some,
grows on trees
which I find to be
pretty darn shady
