KAKOLI MAJUMDAR GHOSH

All On A Sudden

If our paths separate, turning apart,

claiming a fragrant forgetting,

our routes go a different way,

when it's our time to depart,

if the melody of the seasons

cease to play one day,

when it may rain all on a sudden,

showering some pent-up reason,

don't stop or go astray.

Leave behind the stony burden

of empty promises taken

at every milestone,

until the stars burn

showing you at the dawn

the secret key hidden night-long,

to the dark's golden prison.

The captive moments of regret

will tune the music again,

as long as in me you'll remain

day after day, sleep after sleep

in my eyeline deep,

where the tear-drops do never weep.

The parched miles of the desert

will sprout once again

if your fingers fondle the sandy pain.

of overflowing emptiness

all on a sudden.

Eyes, Rain, And A Story

An old book taken out of the shelf,

a few pages fluttering in the breeze,

some stories, some truths merge,

drops of yellowed time blotched,

page after page, stained as if an art,

some lines remembered by heart, some forgotten,

smell of clouds hanging in the wardrobe,

the mirror wrinkling with age,

a little rain, a faint bridge in the haze,

reaching beyond the moon

over the rocky ridge.

An unfinished wine,

some pencil strokes fine,

unwashed memories waiting

in the dumped heaps of mistakes,

one day comes to an end

but stays in the folds of clean clothes,

in neatly ironed creases.

Page after page, cloud after cloud,

stories seek eyes, tears await rain,

eyes drown dreams,

the silent drama of the shadows

never ceases.

A paused age stayed so long along,

doubting the growing mirror;

habits prolong,

forgotten repeats ripen the facts,

when the pages disperse in the air,

the stories flow apart.

Why the storm blew away the sun

when the spring was so near?

Destination

The unknown ways that go straight

disappearing far at a distance,

have always signaled me

calling me away further.

Their straightforward calls

keep me in a wonder

if they'll ever take me

someday somewhere.

I've surrendered to the restless call,

that takes me by my hand

guiding me through nowhere

to a homeless new land.

Search for a home

have made me alone,

address seems absurd.

A lost route taught me to trust

and rely on the far North star.

Known paths have never taken me

to your threshold

that frames the moon,

boundary of limits can't flag my destination.

Your address, an illusion endless

has steered the ordinary paths

through my journey to the seamless.
