Indifference

Indifference 

is a perfectly smooth

round stone,

sunk into the sea.

There it lies

and nothing moves it,

not even strong currents,

not even the curiosity of fish.

And it remains alone.

And, over time,

it becomes covered

with slimy algae

and small shells.

Sacred

Just like a flag

on top of a hill

or

an angel shaped wind vane

pointing the way;

like a Temple

with closed,

finely decorated doors,

Sacred

You are

to me.

ISABELLA SORDI

ISABELLA SORDI: Isabella Sordi, born in Udine, Italy, in 1954, is a retired teacher of English Literature, who lives now in Venice, where she taught at the local High School after taking her degree in Modern Languages at the University of Udine. She did classical studies and has devoted herself to poetry since she was a child, always receiving positive reviews and winning numerous first prizes. In 2008 she published her first book of poems, “Un Dio felice”, Vitale, Sanremo, third place at the “Città di New York” and, in 2013, “Sopra I cieli di Berlino”, Helicon, Arezzo, fourth and fifth in both national and international contests. She is present in many literary anthologies and her latest book, “In un vorticoso tango” (Helicon, Arezzo, 2022), was classified first at the International Poetry Competition “Certamen Apollinare Poeticum”, in 2023. In 2022 she was the President of the Jury in the Intercontinental Literary Contest “Le Nove Muse” in Venice. She is a a member of Writers Capital Foundation and a Distinguished Scholar of IAE (International Academy of Ethics). Official Member CIESART and Rinascimento-Renaissance Millenium III.

ISABELLA SORDI, udinese, docente di Letteratura inglese, si è dedicata alla poesia fin da bambina. Sempre ai primi posti in numerosi concorsi nazionali ed internazionali. Nel 2008 ha pubblicato “Un Dio felice”, ed. Vitale, Sanremo, terzo al “Città di New York”e, nel 2013, “Sopra i cieli di Berlino”, edito dalla Helicon di Arezzo, quarto e quinto a “Energia per la Vita” e al Thesaurus.. Membro di giuria, è inserita in numerose antologie e letterature. Presidente di Giuria de “Le Nove Muse” nel 2022. Edito nel 2022 dalla Helicon il suo terzo volume, “In un vorticoso tango”, primo classificato al “Certamen Apollinare Poeticum” nel 2023. Membro della Writers Capital Foundation e Distinguished Scholar dell’ International Academy of Ethics.
