KRISTY RAINES

Maybe She Expected

Too Much Out of Love

In the dark hours of a silent night

She hears only the sound of his breathing

as she drapes her arm around his rising chest

He stirs, from the feel of her touch

and pulls her closer to the warmth of his body

Oh how comforting it is to be so close to him;

To believe that he would always keep her safe;

Or to know that his love is hers only

Never had she felt that secure in any man's arms

or ever trusted fully in forevers

Never does she remember any who were worthy of

a heart that would always be as true as hers

or whose love would be steadfast and eternal

Maybe she was a fool to think these relationships existed...

A man who could love just one, without looking further;

One whose love stayed as passionate as when they first met

She once believed in this kind of love,  until she didn't...

But maybe it is just her who expected too much out of love.

Where Do You Find Home Again?

When the road gets too heavy sometimes

and you just want to go home

But there is no way to get there

because the arms that used to own that name

no longer can be reached....

Tell me, Where do you find home again?

He would be the one she ran to

because home to her was his arms

But his arms can no longer welcome her

His arms can't hold anyone ever again

So she prays hoping that he can hear her...

Lord, where do you find home again?

She is told that she is so strong by many

but the tears in her eyes tell a different tale

She  never speaks of the home she lost

She can't handle the pitiful looks they'd give

She goes on living but her memories are in a grave...

Where to you go when you have lost your home?

Then one day she said, "I am a strong woman"!

Perhaps I can build my own home

with his memories instead of his arms..

And that is when she found home again.
