Where I Would Rather Be
I am always
caught
in whispers of dreams,
worlds better than the
reality I've been given;
I dream of a place
where everyone is seen
as equal and everyone
is treated with dignity
and respect—
no one is ridiculed for
their religion or lack there-of,
no binaries that anyone has
to conform to, and every
form of love is seen as
beautiful and necessary;
and the earth is green and lush
full of forests and birds and songs—
no one has to go without
food or clothes or homes,
everyone is simply able to be;
and harmony and peace
spread their arms around us in soft
arms of clouds—this is where
I would rather be.
I Have A Dream
where every
misfit finds their
song in this
world full of beauty
and diversity,
where everyone is
seen as equal and treated
with respect and dignity;
a place where no one
cares who you marry
so long as you're
a good spouse to the ones
or one that you love—
a place where everyone
can pursue their dreams,
a place where wealth inequality
isn't a thing;
and rich white men can't tell anyone
what to do.
