Beyond Reach
I’ve been chasing dreams
since my teens...
always just out of reach
teasing
taunting
mocking
tormenting me
one moment so close
the next—vanishing
like a kite loosed
from its string
skimming treetops
scraping against towers
dancing wildly
across skies
and seas
Now these weary limbs
have abandoned
the chase
bones brittle
breath shallow
heart resigned
Never mind...
I whisper
Perhaps dreams
were never meant
to be caught
but to lead us
to places
we'd otherwise
never see
False Hopes
Upon your dream
I gave my all
bared my chest
emptied my soul
to secure,
in your heart,
a small spot
You built castles
in the air
with words like silk
promises spun from gold
woven so tightly
I believed they’d hold
But your dreams
were never for us
they crumbled like ash,
leaving me clutching
to shadows of a future
that never was
I bled for illusions,
while you walked away
untouched
leaving my soul
to sift through the wreckage
of dreams you built
and betrayed.
