DONNA WOODS
THE LYRICIST
These are my words and this is
my song
I wrote the lyrics, to me they
do belong
I am the writer, the words are
my own
I write in company and I write
all alone
Some people try to criticise my
words
And insult my rhythm and rhyme
But those people don't cause me
bother
They simply just aren't worth
the time
I could hand a pen to them to
write
But they would struggle to write
a thing
They don't have the mind of a
writer
Or the gift of this unique
blessing
I was born and raised to be a
writer
Poetry is always my favourite
choice
I feel it gives the world true
meaning
And it gives myself and life a
voice
The critics will always find a
fault
They condemn what I have written
But I can't help but somehow
wonder
If they are yet secretly smitten
I am a writer and Poetry is my
gift
I can use words to bother lower
and lift
These are words and this is my
song
I wrote the lyrics, to me they
do belong
