MY SPIRIT IS STRANGE IN MY BODY

At last I found you, have come to say to you

That I shan’t date you anymore!

My spirit is strange in my body

I shan’t put on this body anymore.

I abandon you crossing my name out of your heart

It is enough if you keep my picture inside of your eyes.

I shed tears for you, I wept for hours longing you,

It is enough if you shed a drop of tear for me.

That dug grave will be mine, it is my last address

If you remember anything, be aware where to look for me.

Wherever I traveled I didn’t feel myself strange

Wherever I stand isn’t my Motherland!

HAS COME

I think this love’s death-hour has come

Do go away! Don’t cover your hands with blood.

Now there is no use of hope or calming words,

Don’t hurt yourself or don’t make me tired.

Now my feelings are so frozen,

If you put them into sun, they won’t melt.

You poured so much grief into my heart,

Now no love can go into my heart.

I have seen a grave inside of your eyes,

Don’t insist telling me “I love you.”

I think this love’s death-hour has come.

IT ISN’T ME IN THE MIRROR

It is brow, eyes, familiar face,

It is a piece of the life.

I looked around, looked for myself,

It isn’t me in the mirror.

It is ice statue in the stone mirror

An ice look has been frozen on the mirror

My eyes are spring, summer and winter in mirror

It isn’t me in the mirror.

Luck is my mirror, my luck reflects me,

It reflects me a lucky lifetime.

My God, how happy it reflects me,

It isn’t me in the mirror.

All what I grieved for is countless,

My eyes never smiled like this.

Mirror can’t see me

It isn’t me in the mirror.

Dr. TARANA TURAN RAHIMLI is an Azerbaijani poet, writer, journalist, translator, literary critic, teacher, academic, is an active member of the International Literary Agency in Turkey and Azerbaijan. She is a PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of Azerbaijan and World Literature Chair of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, author of 7 books and more than 400 articles.
