WHAT IT WAS, WAS FOOTBALL
(A Tribute to Andy Griffith)
Barney Fife was part of an old time
show
police
station
humor was part of Andy Griffith's
flow
small-town
humor
played part of how Opie Taylor
would grow
limited
landscapes
gave the Andy Griffith show a way
to go
laughable
comedy
had a new comedian in Andy woe
pigskin
sportsman
could open the door to a fun elbow
dialogues
similar
to “What it Was,” was done to be
hallow
comic
relief
was a start to Andy's job of
shallow
horizons
opened
by Andy Griffith were forever more
pretense
bringing
on laughter was common with
Barney's war
laudable
pleasure
was had by all viewing Andy's fun
score
content
happened
as a matter of life for Andy's
corps
sitcom
satire
was great for Andy and he never
swore
humorous
anecdotes
kept coming with Andy, and time
would snore
Granny
scolded
Opie for misunderstanding a chore
loving
caring
for each other was common as a boor
handling
matters
was left up to Barney, as he would
scour
cruising
along
the main street was Andy, Bee was
the flower
passing
moments
seemed a mile away, Andy in power
ticking
movements
wore thin on Bee's nerves, she
could turn sour
policing
stations
caused a panic for Barney, he would
cower
genuine
clamor
took over when Barney would shower
charades
avoided
the truth behind Andy's show as
aligned
comedic
overtures
were spread around, till it became
defined
theater
drama
did not figure into Andy's novel
mind
clowning
around
was as common as time running
behind
Opie
opened
up when Barney and Bee became
confined
slapstick
comedy
was realized as Andy was refined
dancing
allowed
an open exchange of what was
entwined
funnyman
farces
gave way to humor that was
realigned
comedic
hilarity
offered by Andy was special and
light
Matlock
lasted
till Andy was no longer able to
delight
aging
evaded
Andy Griffith longer than his
birthright
playing
acting
as a ham was gone, Andy lost
insight
monologues
defined
Andy's early career, he was the
limelight
angling
fishing
for the limelight, Andy found
appetite
instilling
freedom
to be your own man was from his
foresight
twisting
turning
over the stage to the young was
from hindsight.

RHAPSODY IN BLUE
(A Tribute to George Gershwin)
Music was the livelihood of many
musicians
motherhood
became
a factor behind many songs written
for conditions
brothers
sisters
became song misers, with new,
creative editions
singing
together
became common as new songs came out
in renditions
changing
partners
become more common as life created
new provisions
stalking
happened
as life was corrupt, politics had
its suspicions
bootleg
alcohol
opened up in prohibition, through
definitions
dancing
dress-up
brought out new dances to romance
for submissions
Charleston
became
a home to new dances of songs made
for dream flowing
relishing
music
in song or big band sounds created
overflowing
romance
springing
up as a popular routine left folks
glowing
traveling
therefore
included music from all times, and
easygoing
vacations
included
music and dancing that seemed to be
more controlling
family
festivities
were warm and including singing, to
be outgoing
politics
heated
up as Roosevelt brought the new
deal as ongoing
warring
factions
wanted to own the world, as they
began exploding
musical
patterns
formed in a world that was getting
set on paths behind
musicals
performed
by some of the best bands and
singers, were on the mind
movies
starring
singers and bands were driven into
our minds entwined
Kelly
Astaire
were dancing to Gershwin's tunes
till they became opined
passions
stirring
caused fights over gals, that men
were drawn to and aligned
drinking
offered
a way out of reality, girls gave
relief in kind
melodies
displayed
unusual rhythms, ragtime and
dixieland were primed
divorces
rising
up took the world by storm, and are
always ill-timed
moderate
melodic
overtures came to be well within
our pure delight
piano
reverie
opened new horizons to a path to
appetite
cartoon
animation
opened doors to novel ideas, and
human's light
fantasy
opened
doors to envision dreams of a
creative space flight
daring
rescues
led us down a path to searching for
living insight
rhapsodies
allowed
us to see behind what we wanted as
foresight
feeling
blue-some
gave us new ways to recognize and
enhance our hindsight.

FAMILY TIES
Growing a family takes patience and
time
making
fortuitous
decisions is relative to what does
rhyme
older
brothers
seem to know more as they are past
their prime
talent
teaches
others to stand-by, love is not a
crime
battling
brothers
and sisters is common as they learn
to climb
practice
making
perfect is a lesson learned for a
dime
relations
develop
over time as we grow in a peacetime
finishing
homework
before being able to play, not
sublime
running
over
to a playmates house is giving you
go
playing
blind-man's
bluff may enhance your skill, and
your true flow
fistfights
breaking
out with brothers is what turns,
come to blow
hunting
fishing
are what men do, brotherly love to
sow
dating
opens
to new horizons, to learn where you
grow
schoolyards
beckon
children to role play, and begin to
know
playgrounds
offer
merry-go-rounds, spin the mind to
and fro
playing
sporting
events teaches men venture, have a
foe
relations
helping
each other, part of growing up tall
connections
open
liaisons to new paths, for a place
to fall
feasting
holidays
bring families together, festive
call
attaching
cosmic
love is what we all want in our own
hall
napping
afternoons
are common after a feast, nap and
crawl
kinship
avoids
festering arguments to find a live
shortfall
fellowship
evades
the time that love has a new
protocol
children
happen
to bring up new ideas to a wild
squall
households
differ
in what they can do to bring in
delight
illness
impedes
family happiness, and brings a
twilight
contacts
intent
is sometimes counter to a family's
light
affairs
interfere
with a family's relations and
create a plight
standoffs
causing
arguments are part of breakups, and
flight
loving
caring
options keep family's together,
foresight
future
depends
on how we get along, find our
insight
marriage
finalizes
a commitment to follow our
birthright.
