Summer, sunlight, warm and calm
Berries in the grass
All the world is in my palm
Specially for us

On the surface of the lake
Covered with a mist
Neither doubt nor mistake
Ever could exist

Someone earns his daily bread
Being taught by God
Somewhere people, going mad,
Shed their brothers' blood

As for me I take a chance
Spend my idle day
Staring high to catch your glance
Listening if you say

There's no matter for complaint
One may spend and spare
I can be a holy saint
I can trade in shares

I can paint my life in verse
I can break or mend
All is senseless just because
Nought is in the end

Have no power to forget
What I am and seem
Like an asymptote of that
Which I call my dream

As if looking through the lens
At the changing shape:
Winter, darkness, iron fence
Nowhere to escape

What I have heard of love
Sounds like a try to flee
If I'm good enough
Then you will be with me
If in the shine of stars
A supernova seems
You will decide at last
If you believe my dreams
What do you need to fall
In or out of love -
Me as some kind of girl
Nice or unsuited stuff?
Each my step to the right
Just as one to the left
Looks as a step aside
I'm suspected of theft
Maybe I steal your time
Maybe I'm worth not much
Not much more than a dime
Ten a penny and such
Didn't you guess it hurt?
Now I'm the only one
Next time your broken heart
Sings to me 'love has gone'
Your vacillating voice
Echoing through my mind
Asking if I'm not yours
Doubting if you are mine
Your hesitation is tough
My everlasting grief
What do you mean by love
When you repeat your 'if'
Is it your fear of pain
Made you unsure of us
Doing its best to stain
Things that elude your grasp?
Speaking of love, I thought
It is invariancy
If you can love or not
Then it's not you and me

Beware Of Love That You Cannot Touch

Beware of love that you cannot touch with your hand,
No matter how smart and beautiful it appears.
You fall in there and build your castle on the sand.
Be cautious, or you will end up in bitter tears.

A lonely stranger, you've lost your road in the dark.
If only you met a signpost or saving light,
The warmth of a friendly shelter, a humble shack
To take a little rest and break through the night.

The sky above would be empty without the sun,
The moon and the twinkling sparks of the other worlds.
But here they are to continue their endless run
And show the way and kismet to young and olds.
They highlight, what is around and who we are.
We raise our heads and stare at them from the mire…

You follow me everywhere as your guiding star.
But I'm just an ignis fatuus, foolish fire.

Oh, crazy guy, you are breathing with your mirage
And who am I to advise you to hold your breath?
It may be fatal, you are half drowned in the marsh...

Yet there are things more important than life and death.

You carry on. You'll never give up your way.
You tread your path regardless the type of soil.
Who knows, maybe all the suns are to lead astray,
While foolish dreams are to save your tenacious soul.

GALINA ITALYANSKAYA, 42 y.o., born in the USSR in a small northern town, now living in Russia with her children and working as an English teacher. She loves to draw pictures, and she hardly can imagine going on a trip or just for a walk without a camera. Galina has written poetry since her school years. About 10 years ago she composed her first poem in English, inspired by her friend from abroad. And thanks to poetry she’s found many good friends all over the world. In 2015 she joined “Poets Unite Worldwide” group, and some of her poems were published in their anthologies.
