DONNA MCCABE

My Pen Speaks Poetry...

It's all said in the ink

That is spilled on the page

The feelings, emotions

That choke and enrage

My pen speaks poetry

It's all it knows what to do

A form of expression

That relieves and renews.

Poetry Is An Echo...

Poetry is an echo

Of a poet’s voice in ink

What resides within the mind

Forged out upon paper

Expressions of light and dark

Truth and pain

To be read, felt and resonated with

Over and over again...

Donna McCabe

Pluviophile...

Outstretched hand

Cupping falling rain

The sound so soothing

Finding peace and joy

On the rainy evening...

Childhood Days

Days of innocence

Carefree in youth

Imaginations that knew no bounds

Silliness and laughter

With friends all around

Indifferent to a bigger world

With all its harsh realities

Just the childhood fears of contention

Of things that go bump in the night.

Entrenched

A life lived

Deep feelings and emotion ingrained

Experience attained,

Unique as a fingerprint.

A life lived

Deep feelings and emotion ingrained

Experience attained,

Unique as a fingerprint.

Regrowth

Planted seeds

Of remembrance and empathy

Watered and tended

The jaded old versions of myself

Laid to rest

As new roots and life start afresh.
