RAJASHREE MOHAPATRA

Lofty Thoughts

Oh, my dear!

Can you guess for whom

I wear a smile?

My tears make my verses fuzzy

And thoughts hazy

My lips dazzle with a curved smile

While my flooded eyes allow

my thoughts to sail a while.

Neither are they vague in meaning

Nor are the expressions of an illusory mind

But are resultants of lofty thoughts

That vent pain and sorrows

As its potent breed.

Hazy thoughts

Often shadow the motif of life

Since I am a neighbour

to the heavenly abode

Of the Almighty

And look at Him continually to redress my grief

Every declivity of mine

proves my ascendancy till I complete my rise .

Dreams In Life

A life on earth without dreams

Looks like

A globe without any defined life line,

Dreams, as understood create

Hopes in life

And recreates the total humanity.

Dreams, when not materialised

Pains like confronting death

And a life without dreams is enraged

Off and on

For it turns purposeless

With a reduced faith.

Between yesterday’s regret and

Tomorrow’s dreams

There is always today’s opportunity.

Rise up on toes to enact it

Above all obstacles

Living life with faded dreams

Is just like ocean losing it’s beauty

And is without pleasant emerald hue.

How will it be if the sky would

Lose all the blazing stars

In the midnight blue ...

Perpetrated Violence

Perpetrated violence swells the eye balls

And make it to dazzle with

A blue print of the designed depravity

Agitation so caused in the mind and the soul

Destroys the ethics of humanity.

Death knocks vehemently on the heart's door

Hatred appears at the forefront

Acute hostility only appeases the souls

And foresees bloodshed and continual assault.

No one comes forward at the need with courage,

To retaliate the instinct with an open mind

And to reaffirm the world

That he is not truly deaf and blind.

Alas! Everyone in the society

The rich and poor, the weak and strong

The old and young

All are crushed under the

Whirlwind of violence

And left with no choice to revolt

And resist all brutality and pretenses.

Passionate Enthusiasm

It was not surprising for me

To trace me whirling in a pool of evil eyes

Deeply stricken with jealousy

And mistrust.

No options left for me

Than to plan at once a rise from the vortex

Against a strong current of betrayals

And social stigma.

The wild wind of sneaky conspiracy

Engaged pin wheeling my concentrated hopes

And aspirations

A good moral conduct

Somewhere reverberated

And rehearsed emitting a voice of caution.

The panic state of no option

Forced me to fix my lips and fingers

on my flute

And I started playing as another Nero

At this hour of angst.

Beyond my belief

The notes of my flute got harmonized

As the mighty weapon

That melted the frozen ice-berg of jealousy,

violence and conspiracy

and generated hope towards creating

Passions surfacing from an ocean.

Patience and perseverance

No doubt ablaze the will to raise the vertex

Of passionate enthusiasm

Of course, politeness with a stack of blended love

May reassure humanism.

May the love rule and Jealousy

Drowns into the blue vortex.
