CONCETTA LA PLACA

Love Is The Only Remedy

An increasingly disjointed society,

an increasingly shattered society,

brings uncertainty to the heart,

but a ray of light,

inescapable beam of hope,

will be able to illuminate, still,

our future as men

redeemed from evil,

men repentant and running towards the only salvation: love.

Emptiness Around Me

I look at the overcast sky

and the grey space becomes empty,

suddenly, around me.

The city is silent and enveloped

by thick fog and notes of desolate and melancholic sadness.

It is my city, this place invisible,

It is a ghost,

It is full of ancient affections.

Here, I cultivated frank friendships,

tender emotions

and I cultivated buds of love.

I wander now through silent streets,

I cross new faces and no longer

those known to us.

Missing all the love of yesteryear

forever evaporated

together with what it meant.

Thus, in this maze of solitude,

the heart darkens

and I lose myself.

This Stillness Around Me

This stillness around me

fills me

with your bitter silence

full of incoherent contradictions

This silence resounds

with its echo in my heart

and seems to silence

the rhythm of my vital beats.

This apparent calm

conceals only a war

underground, with no armistice between us.

It is a tranquility

that surrounds us and arises only from the escape from love

that occasionally consumes you.

It is your evident emptiness of feeling

that leaves, around me,

beyond our silence,

also my despondency.

I wonder if it will return,

between us,

the din of our love

and of our ancient passion.
