Aliens
I stumbled upon
this house,
as I walked deep
into the woods
standing on
stilts
made of
asbestos, with tin roofs
It had no doors
or windows.
I wondered who
lived within.
Curiosity
piqued.
Knocked hard,
once, twice, thrice.
There was no
response.
So, I hammered
down one wall.
Easily came
down.
I walked in
hesitatingly.
What met before
my eyes,
made me jump
with fright.
Three-legged
creatures
resembling
half-human,
half reptile,
were piled high
up to the
ceiling.
I wondered
where they had
come from;
these mystical
creatures
on floors and
walls
hanging from the
roof
upside down.
They spoke a
language indecipherable.
It sounded all
mumbo jumbo.
I spoke a few
words,
their ears
cocked up
but they seemed
not to
understand.
Had I stepped
into an alien place
inhabited by
mystical creatures
from the outer
world?
Were they here
to research
the human race,
full of
contradictions
full of
self-importance?
Felt a choking
sensation
fiery tongues
darted
like missiles
across the skies
I don't belong
here,
I concluded and
left.

Outram Ghat...
full moon night
couple sitting
on the steps
with packets of
"jhalmuri"[1]
“doesn't taste
so good,
mustard oil is missing"
says he...
"your taste
buds are dead
smoking
Charminar cigarettes"
says she...
An argument

grains of muri

River Hooghly

"Take your

Ashamed, the
couple repent
for raising
their voices,
for polluting
the air.

Thin Line Between Fair & Foul
The world seems
so mysterious
deepening with
current events
distorting
images held
of what is fair,
what is foul
Everything is so
entwined
woven into a
lace
one of its kind.
Actors on stage
playing their parts
refusing to
leave
Despite being
unwanted,
being booed
Disallowing
entry of winners
Thus, closing
the doors
for a better
world
