GEORGE ONSY

GEORGE ONSY

YOU ARE LOVE – 2

You are love
And so often
In my distress,
You surprise me
With a tender breeze
That softly soothes
My complaining skin.
Oh, such a bliss!,
And I wish to ask you:
Was it your whisper
Or your kiss?

YOU ARE LOVE - 3

You are love
And so it happened
That you formed me
Out of the bottomless
Abyss of nothingness
With your vision
Of a Divine Poet,
With your hands
Of an Almighty Sculptor,
With your fingers
Of a Harpist
Of eternal melodies.
Oh, oh, how I love
The miraculous masterpiece
Of art that I am!

FROM DEATH TO HIS WORST ENEMY – 5

I am DEATH,
So they call me
And so they fear me.
Again, you tiny poet
Whom nobody knows about
Dare veil my very existence
With your soulful doubt?
Don’t you know that
I’ve been there
Since the birth of life
And the irresistible LUST,
Since the beginning
Did I take for wife?
Yes, with her I used to
Hook Mortals unaware
That they would go
Empty handed
At last.
And I humbly reply:
Dear Death Sir,
In my helpless admiration,
I once depicted her
Somewhere in my past
As an Aphrodite’s statue,
Facing your fearful Anubis
Yet, my Beloved is still there,
Central, calling me to come out
Of her Kingdom of Dust.

THE TWENTIETH CENTURY'S LEGEND

In Memory of Mahatma Gandhi
Drowned deep into the Ganges
For love of my second Homeland,
My eyes raise from its holy core
To see those tiny pixels still floating
On its surface whispering to the shore.
The never-lying warm sunrays
Are still weaving a shining image
Of a little body with a giant soul,
Standing on history’s endless road
Forever and ever proud and tall
Having bowed for a long tough lifetime
Before human rights to freedom an’ dignity
Challenging the oppressors’ crime.
Shall I ask the pebbles who came
Dancing with those flowing pits
To tell me his name of great fame?
But as water pebbles can’t utter words,
Even letters like Ai, Bi, an’ Dhi,
Out of my depths the soul shouts loud:
It’s the ashes of Immortal Gandhi.
