brightens greenery

with a coat of new plasters

 

The park - an oasis for busy people

soothes shaky thoughts

 

The trees catch the smell of spring

Domestic willows, maples, beeches

get along with the dialect of leaves

with an exotic honey locust

a Chinese metasequoia

or a cypress tree

They grow in harmony

not knowing interpersonal

hatred

 

In the shadows perched a statue

restores the memory

of Greater Poland Insurgents

Rosną zgodnie

obca im nienawiść

At St. Peter’s Square

God closed the book of His mortality

with the wing of the wind

 

Heart of the earth, that He kissed, bleeds

is it longing for Him

or is it the wrath of God that shakes the earth

because we don't keep what we promised Him

 

He filled us with the Light of God's Word

with the balm of a smile He soothed aching hearts

He was building a bridge of understanding

between Christians

He was extinguishing the fire of wars with an olive branch

 

He was our Alpha and Omega

Our model in living suffering and dying

 

Will His words be reborn

in us and like a seed thrown

balsamem uśmiechu koił zbolałe serca

KRYSTYNA GRYS

 

KRYSTYNA GRYS: She was born and still living in Leszno. She attended the Jan Amos Komenski Pedagogical High School in Leszno. Krystyna Grys published 11 volumes of lyric poetry, 3 volumes of epigrams, 1 volume of limericks and 9 volumes of poems for children. Her poems were published in various almanacs and translated to a few foreign languages. Krystyna Grys received two awards of the Mayor of Leszno, the Maria Konopnicka Literary Award, the Klemens Janicki Literary Award and the Tadeusz Micinski “Phoenix” Award. Medal "For a Heart for Culture". She is a member of the Polish Writers Association in Poznan and the Culture Creators Society of Leszno. She has meetings in kindergartens, schools, the Senior Clubs.

 

KRYSTYNA GRYS: Urodziła się i mieszka w Lesznie. Uczęszczała do Liceum Pedagogicznego im. Jana Amosa Komenskiego w Lesznie. Krystyna Grys opublikowała 11 tomów poezji lirycznej, 3 tomy fraszek, 1 tom limeryków oraz 9 tomów wierszy dla dzieci. Jej wiersze zostały opublikowane w różnych almanachach I przetłumaczone na kilka języków obcych. Krystyna Grys otrzymała dwie nagrody Prezydenta Miasta Leszna, Nagrodę Literacką im. Marii Konopnickiej, Nagroda Literacka Klemensa Janickiego i Nagroda im. Tadeusza Micińskiego „Phoenix”. Medal „Za Serce dla Kultury”. Jest członkiem Związku Literatów Polskich w Poznaniu oraz Stowarzyszenia Twórców Kultury w Lesznie. Ma spotkania w przedszkolach, szkołach, klubach dla seniorów, bibliotekach .
