Porcelain Doll
You left
one evening in
August
the rays of the
moon
tinged with
clear reflections
your long dark
hair
while from afar
my gaze followed
your lithe and
familiar gait
fluttered in the
light puffs of the wind
your thin dress
You never looked
back
your slow but
sure pace
towards your
tomorrow
and I already
felt nostalgia
of your black
eyes
pearls of
distant and unknown seas
of our nights of
love
full of vanished
promises
in the sweet air
of a summer
evening
Maybe I’ll wonder
over time
whether you ever
really loved me
why you wanted
to be with me
just for a short
stretch of your life
to leave me
indifferent
to my loneliness
Shall I ever
understand your silences
Beautiful as a
porcelain doll
far and cold in
front of
the fire that
burned me inside
that you wanted
to stifle
without a word
turning your
back
on the rise of
new dawns together
and like a
shadow fade away
Maria Miraglia
If Only
I could see the
sky
littered with
stars
mirrowing their
flickering lights
on the vast
expanse of the blue
in a stormy
night
when angry winds
tear off
the last leaves
from the chilly
branches
hear in the
silence
of gloomy nights
violins playing
if only I could
see
still burn in
your eyes
the passion of
one time
barefoot walk
along desolate moors
climb up
mountains
if you were
there
waiting for me
go along the
paths of the world
like a crusader
in search of the
holy grail
to win back that
love
you gave me once
@ Maria Miraglia
That Love
Time goes by
day after day
different the
colors of
the new dawns
and the sunsets
changes the
scent
of the seasons
that
slowly follow
each other
with monotony
while like a
candle
your life is
burning out
Lost at night
in the memories
of your youth
age
still you feel
the call
of that Love
since long in
your breast
you keep tight
and in the
silence
of your barely
lighted room
clear flow in
your mind
images of a life
never lived
Besets you
melancholy
while timidly
tears
stream down your
face

them together seems a challenge for many, where Maria is found to be successful
applying them into her poems. Author of anthologies in Italian, English or both
languages She is recipient of numerous national and international awards and
recognition.
