RAJASHREE MOHAPATRA

Yesterday You Were There

Yesterday, you were there,

We were too much closer than lovers

Now we are prepared to say Good Bye' to each other

Seemed, our voice was equivocally choked.

The clouds

Crowding the sky

Ready to rain to wash out our footprints

At the entrance door.

And the dusk prepares to gather round our home

Where love is frozen by this time

In an lonely atmosphere.

Life appears insentient with in the tangled dry leaves

Our garden will remain inanimate till the next spring.

You said,

Once the love is over, we are strangers

Who cares what was our past,

And what comes tomorrow?

A Defined Love

Is it a love my dear!

If a stormy sea when made to lull

In its rocking cradle

Murmurs its own music in slumber

or

If the funeral fire succumbs to a

Dreamy sleep ashore !

or

If after a torrential rain

The pale cloud yells with sobs

On a deserted horizon?

Is it love my dear!

If a day dies with dusk

And night awaits a signing dawn.

Oh, my dear,

This is as much the universal law

The rivulets move calmly into the heart

Of the turbulent darkness.

Yet, of course

We strive to move ahead

Hand in hand singing in each-other's praise

As we trip along ...

And love is keenly defined here.

Fireflies

They are fireflies

Deep in their hearts,

Love is hidden in a dark chamber,

Very much eager to see the day’s  light.

They  fly with gratifications

Unlike the birds of the spring

with pleasure and delectations ,

Paint each other's sky with different hues

That make no sense

Between lust and innocence .

Like  the fleeting clouds,

They spread with a sacred music,

At times ferociously searching

And pitching unsafe over a rough sea .

They are fireflies,

Fly without emotion to explore the night

There is no bridge

That can connect their mystery
