Today The Sky Resembles…
Today the sky
resembles
a weave of
shining whispers
moving toward
some corner of the world.
My ánima walks
beside this body
along paths of
wet leaves.
The scent of the
forest lifts my blood,
and my whole
being rests as one.
Along the way I
discover a gift:
spores have
risen,
trunks that once
lay dead
have blossomed.
Everything is in
its place.
Life flows
through every
corner
of this silent
passage.
Upon The Rocks
Upon rocks
the water carves
serpentine channels
into the earth,
leaving traces.
Around me, a
landscape:
a field sown
with fire,
ripe barley,
freshly cut
cane,
a wild fragrance
opening its wings.
Winds carrying
secrets
from the edges
of the earth.
Mountain-root,
silica in the
air.
The coolness of
mid-afternoon
rises from an
invisible sky;
a fleeting
breath of oxygen
becomes a
microcosmic revelation
within my being.
Seated in
silence,
the green depth
grows small,
and stripped
before the vast miracle,
I simply am.
3. When I touch
it
When I touch it,
I feel the
ancient memory of its dry skin;
for a few
seconds I hear my own pulse
beating through
its warm, dehydrated body.
It reminds me
of caressing the
skin of an elder.
And if it held a
message, it would say:
I am not
entirely dead,
there is still
life beneath your hands,
and from the
ashes of fire
a different
light may rise.
There are
objects that live,
and if we look
at them with love,
they awaken.
NETERU ESSENCE
NETERU ESSENCE is the pen name of
emerging Chilean poet Karem Gabriela Balladares. Her debut collection, Ánima de
Estrella (2025), marks the beginning of her contemplative poetic path. She
currently lives in Ecuador, where her work explores the subtle relationships
between nature, soul, and symbolic perception. A practitioner of spagyrics, a
naturopath by vocation, and a student of natural symbology, she brings earth,
art, and spirit together in her creative process. She is also the founder of
Flos Aeternus, an independent press dedicated to reviving alchemical texts and
forgotten poetic voices.
