Maybe the moon will wake you at night,

and your eyes will weep in the cold of solitude.

Maybe sadness and sorrow will carry you away?

Don’t give in — you have me as your truest friend!

 

Don’t let joy vanish in a fleeting moment,

don’t let the light be replaced by cries of darkness!

Remember me, know that I love you,

and that I am with you for as long as I live!

 

This distance means nothing at all,

when sunbeams warm the soul within.

I send my warmth across to you –

may it protect you, so you do not fall!

 

Let the dark nights be adorned with stars,

let heaven’s joy pour down upon you,

and may eternal happiness follow your path –

for whoever gives it, shall always keep it too!

 

Don’t Let Them Steal Your Sky

 

Look at the star in the heart of the night—

like a flame of light, it shines in the dark!

It whispers through the wind: the pain will pass,

each tear weaves pearls, a luminous spark.

 

Wipe the shadows from your eyes,

the golden dawn will kiss your face!

Let new hope, like a fearless river,

bless your longings—hidden and base!

 

Embrace the wind, let passion rise,

let wings unfold to endless dreams!

The threads of fate in heaven’s loom

weave your steps in new day’s gleam.

 

At times, the rain outruns the clouds,

at times, the dark may capture the day,

but the moon keeps watch—its secret whispers:

from old wounds, light finds its way.

 

You matter, dear soul, like the sun to the morning,

like a drop of dew on a newborn leaf…

Don’t let the wind or a stranger’s hand

bind your wings or steal belief!

 

Dream boldly, without a trace of fear,

let the sky be a boundless canvas!

Don’t let sorrow’s colors stain

your dreams with shadows senseless!

 

Guard your soul—your greatest treasure,

let the child within you stay alive!

As long as love and smiles remain,

CVIJA PERANOVIĆ KOJĆ: She was born in BiH. After finishing high school, she continued to live and study in Austria, at the Higher School of Economics, studying German at the same time, and later she also studied psychology at the Pedagogical Academy in Brčko.  She lives in Austria and is actively engaged in literary and scientific work.  She is the author of seven independent books. It is represented in many anthologies in the region and the world.  She is a member and ambassador of many regional and international literary associations and academies and a participant in several international poetry festivals.  She is the winner of numerous awards and recognitions, and her works have been translated into several foreign languages and published in many literary magazines around the world.
